Wendy Williams’s son, Kevin Jr, has provided a rare and heartfelt health update about his famous mother, following claims from her guardian that she is “permanently incapacitated.”
Kevin Jr., 24, who proudly had his mom by his side when he graduated from Florida International University last week, took to social media on Monday to share the update.

In a post celebrating his accomplishment, radio and TV personality Charlamagne Tha God congratulated him, sharing a video where Wendy appears vibrant and joyful.
The 46-year-old host, Lenard Larry McKelvey, posted on Instagram: “This makes me feel ancient. Congrats @topfloor_kev for graduating from @fiuinstagram with a degree in Economics. Next stop law school!!! Keep God First, Stay Humble, and Keep Working Young Man!!! We Truly Thank GOD for it ALL!!!”

Kevin Jr. responded with gratitude in the comment section: “Thank you fam! [three prayer hand emojis] Let’s get her home [fingers crossed emoji].”
He then offered a glimpse into Wendy’s current condition: “While I’m here, quick update on my mom. She’s sober and wants to come home. We’re fighting to make that happen because isolation is killing her faster than anything else.”

Wendy’s rare public appearance came last Thursday when she attended her son’s graduation in Miami, arriving in a stylish black sequin dress and using a mobility scooter. The proud mother was accompanied by her father, Thomas Williams Sr., and was seen beaming with emotion as Kevin Jr. received his diploma in his blue college gown.
In May 2023, Wendy Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Despite her health struggles, she has shown moments of clarity, and a family insider confirmed that Wendy is “more clear now than she’s ever been”—contradicting claims from her guardian that she is permanently incapacitated.

Wendy’s health has been the subject of intense public scrutiny ever since her legal guardianship began in 2022, triggered by concerns over her finances and well-being.
However, her son’s recent comments and public outings suggest a more hopeful future. In a rare video earlier this week, Wendy was seen smiling outside a Florida restaurant, greeting fans and receiving food, giving fans a glimpse of her positive spirit.

While her guardianship and the subsequent documentary, Where Is Wendy Williams?, have sparked controversy, Wendy continues to fight for her independence and clarity amidst the turmoil.
As Kevin Jr. stated, “We’re fighting to make that happen because isolation is killing her faster than anything else.”
