Kenyan singer Brown Mauzo has a word of caution for Kenyans: don’t envy relationships based on what you see online.
In a candid message on social media, Mauzo advised: “Don’t compare your marriage to what you see online. There will always be people who post pictures making it look like they are having a better time than you and your spouse.

Adding, “Avoid the temptation to make a comparison. Envy is dangerous, disastrous even, so stay offline if you must.”
Mauzo’s advice comes from a place of experience. His own relationship with socialite Vera Sidika ended in June 2023 after three years of marriage, sparking widespread public interest.

A Reflection on Love and Loss
In a past interview with NTV, Mauzo reflected on the highs and lows of his marriage to Sidika, acknowledging that both played a role in its breakdown.
“It was a great marriage, marked by actions that surpassed anything I had experienced before. Vera did things that surprised and amazed me,” he shared.

However, he noted that as time passed, familiarity began to take its toll.
“Several factors played a role in the breakdown of the marriage. After being together for over a year, you become accustomed to each other.
Adding, Actions that initially seemed intimidating might later feel like a change in the other person. Everyone has vulnerabilities, and unmet expectations can lead to fatigue in the relationship,” Mauzo explained.

He added that sometimes life hints at alternatives outside the current relationship.
Announcing the Split
In 2023, Mauzo publicly announced their separation, describing it as a mutual decision made in the best interests of their children, Asia Brown and Ice Brown.

“Dear friends and supporters, I wanted to take a moment to share some personal news. After much consideration, Vera Sidika and I have decided to part ways. Our journey together has been filled with unforgettable moments, but we have reached a point where it is best for both of us to move forward separately,” he wrote.

Embracing the Future
Despite the challenges, Mauzo expressed optimism about what lies ahead.
“We both remain grateful for the lessons learned and the growth we’ve experienced. Our focus now is on healing and embracing the future with open hearts,” he added.

Mauzo’s heartfelt advice serves as a reminder to focus on one’s own journey, avoid comparisons, and embrace the reality behind relationships.
