Lilian Nyambura Mbugua was located early Tuesday, December 31, at a filling station in Maragua Town, Murang’a. Her family, who had been anxiously awaiting news, expressed immense gratitude upon her return.
Family’s Relief and Updates
“She was weak and confused, but we are so thankful she is alive,” said her uncle, George Njuguna, during a media briefing.

According to her uncle, Lilian shared that she found herself at the filling station and requested the attendants to contact her mother. Shortly after, she was taken to a nearby health center for medical attention.
Ongoing Care and Investigation
Health officials at the medical facility noted that Lilian appeared “disturbed,” but her recovery is now the family’s primary focus. Plans are underway to transfer her to Nairobi for further medical care while authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
“We are in touch with her employer, East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), to ensure she gets the support she needs,” Njuguna added.
A Holiday Gathering Turned Worrisome
The ordeal began on December 21, when Lilian traveled to her mother’s home to celebrate Christmas. The family had enjoyed a joyful weekend, attending church together and sharing meals.
On Monday, December 23, Lilian stepped out of their gated community around 5 p.m., seemingly for a casual evening stroll. Her sudden disappearance left the family in panic and prompted a frantic search.
