Details of Trump’s inauguration ceremony

Every four years, the President of the United States inauguration ceremony takes place on January 20th, whether they are beginning a new term or serving a second one.

On this date, a series of significant events occur as the incoming president is sworn in, marking the official transfer of power.

The inauguration ceremony is rich in tradition, with various elements reflecting the unique style of the new leader.

The inauguration ceremony typically includes the taking of the oath of office, the inaugural address, a parade, performances, and celebratory events, as well as inaugural balls.

This year, Vice President-elect JD Vance will take the oath first, followed by President Trump.

The oath is traditionally administered by the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, currently John Roberts.

As per the U.S. Constitution, a new president’s term begins precisely at noon on January 20, or the following day if it falls on a Sunday.

Recent inaugurations have taken place on a large platform set up on the West Lawn of the Capitol. However, due to cold weather forecasts, this year’s ceremony will take place indoors in the Capitol Rotunda.

The new president also delivers an inaugural address, sharing their vision for the next four years. This speech is accompanied by the formal pledge to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

President Trump will recite the oath: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

The oath is one of the most pivotal moments of the ceremony, signaling that the new president is officially empowered to begin their term.

In a departure from tradition, Trump has invited several tech industry leaders to attend, alongside his cabinet nominees.
