Renowned news anchor Ken Mijungu has set the record straight, clarifying that he was not fired by Cape Media’s TV47.
In a statement released on Monday, February 24, Mijungu explained that in his impressive 16-year career, no institution has ever let him go.
“I am a public figure, and I owe it to you to clear the air whenever there’s a misunderstanding,” Mijungu shared.

Additionally, “I was not fired from anywhere or by anyone. No institution I have worked for in the last 16 years has ever fired me.”
Ken Mijungu went on to reveal an email he sent to Cape Media’s CEO, where he requested some time off to reflect on his role within the company.
“I’ve been at Cape Media for 3 weeks now, trying to figure out how to fit, but I honestly believe I am still unable to place my finger on it,” he wrote.

The email continued, “This is compounded by the interactions I’ve had with my colleagues. Due to these reasons, I kindly request you extend me some time to figure this out.”
However, the response from the Cape Media CEO was swift. The CEO acknowledged Mijungu’s request for time off, but instead terminated his contract, effective February 22, 2025.
The letter stated, “Having considered the matter, Management has decided to revoke the Service Agreement dated 31 January 2025.”

Ken Mijungu had joined Cape Media on February 7, following his departure from the Standard Group, and was set to start his role at TV47 in mid-February.
After the unexpected termination of his contract, Mijungu shared that he plans to shift his focus to new ventures. “I am a consummate professional and a trained lawyer.
For now, I will concentrate on selling cars, leasing aircraft and cars, consulting in various fields, and washing cars,” he added.

While his time at TV47 was brief, Mijungu’s professionalism and ability to pivot to new opportunities speaks volumes.
Fans and colleagues alike will surely continue to watch as he embarks on this new chapter.
