In a bold and symbolic move that may reshape Kenya’s political landscape, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday, May 15, officially unveiled his new political outfit ,the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) just days after publicly parting ways with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Gachagua’s new vehicle to crisscross the murky waters of Kenya’s politics ahead of the 2027 General Election now be the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
Standing at the heart of Nairobi’s Lavington, at the DCP headquarters on Musa Gitau Road, Gachagua declared the birth of a movement rooted not in power, but in the voice of the people.
The party’s emblem, a listening ear, is more than a visual. It’s a promise.
Framing DCP as a platform born from grassroots consultations and nationwide dialogue, Gachagua emphasized that this is not just another political party — it’s a citizens’ revolution for dignity, inclusion, and genuine representation.
With the 2027 General Election on the horizon, Gachagua’s reentry into Kenya’s political theatre through DCP sends a clear message: the era of top-down leadership is being challenged by a movement grounded in listening, inclusion, and hope.
Gachagua also unveiled a long list of the new party officials;
