Ugandan comedienne Anne Kansiime has stunned fans with a jaw-dropping revelation: she once paid her own dowry.
In an exclusive interview with Uganda’s NRG Radio, Kansiime opened up about the personal decision that left many speechless.
She confessed that after constant pressure from her late father to settle down, and with her financial independence, she took matters into her own hands.
“I was tired of my father asking me to remind the man I was with. At that point, I was really making a lot of money and had even started a business.
Therefore, I thought, ‘I can give Daddy this money, so we stop talking about this.’ I kept reminding my partner to pay, and when he eventually gave me the money, I paid it myself.” she shared.
But the plot thickens… Anne Kansiime has kept the identity of the man she paid the dowry for under wraps. Was it for her current partner, Skylanta, or an ex-lover? The mystery continues to swirl.
Despite the unusual decision, Kansiime has no regrets. “Do I regret it? I don’t think I regret anything that has happened to me before,” she says. “
It’s because of those experiences that I am here today, and now we have a story to tell. Also, it’s pointless to regret things that have already happened because it changes nothing.”
And as rumors of a breakup with Skylanta ran rampant, Kansiime and her husband have remained tight-lipped.
