Beatrice Elachi: If you believe Kenya is bad, go to another country

Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi sent a bold message to Kenyans urging them to show respect for President William Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking during a church service in Nairobi, Elachi passionately addressed those criticizing the country, telling them, “If you think Kenya is a bad country, why stay here? Leave and find another place where you’re happy.”

Her remarks came at a time when criticism of President Ruto’s administration has been intensifying on social media.

Elachi emphasized the importance of respecting the president, calling him “our father,” and stated that it’s wrong for Kenyans to insult the leader online.

She continued, “Foreigners come to Kenya and praise the country, while some of us sit here and complain. If it’s so bad, why not leave? What are you still doing here?”

Adding, “If you go to Dar Es Salam they say Kenyans insult their leaders…they are coming to ruin our country. Where will you go? Let us respect the President.”

Beatrice Elachi also appealed for unity, stressing that Kenyans should not tarnish the country’s image by disrespecting their leaders, especially when abroad.

President William Ruto, who was also present at the church service, echoed similar sentiments. He called on Kenyans to rally behind Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship, urging unity and goodwill.

“This position is for the continent, not just Raila,” Ruto said. “Why should we tear down one of our own?”

Elachi’s comments followed a recent call by COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli, who also emphasized the need for Kenyans to respect the presidency and support the government’s efforts.

Elachi’s sentiments come amid growing calls for respect to the Head of State. The calls have mostly targeted social media users who have been expressing displeasure with the Head of State and his Kenya Kwanza administration.
