Mbosso has sent the Tanzanian music industry into a frenzy as Diamond Platnumz confirms that ongoing talks led to his amicable departure from Wasafi Records!

Mbosso, whose real name is Mbwana Yusuf Kilungi, joined Wasafi in 2018 and quickly became one of the label’s most successful artists.

His soulful Swahili love songs resonated with audiences, cementing his place as a top-tier artist in the Tanzanian music scene.

However, rumors about his departure had been swirling for some time, and Diamond Platnumz himself confirmed that the transition is nearly complete, with discussions between him and Mbosso having come to a positive and amicable resolution.

Diamond Platnumz: “No Hard Feelings, A Respectful Transition”

In a statement, Diamond Platnumz acknowledged that their discussions had been ongoing for a while, and that they had agreed on a mutually respectful resolution.

“Tumekua na mazungumzo mazuri na @mbosso namna ya kuanza rasmi sasa kusimamia kazi zake na tumekamilisha jambo letu vizuri sana. Tafadhali, story yoyote inayozungumzwa kuhusu jambo hili la Mbosso naomba zipuuzwe, mpaka mimi binafsi na Mbosso tutapotoa tamko rasmi.”

This move speaks volumes about the professional relationship between Diamond and Mbosso, which remains cordial despite the departure.

Adding fuel to the fire, Baba Levo, a close associate of Diamond, shared that Mbosso would be leaving Wasafi with no financial obligations, a significant deviation from the experiences of artists like Harmonize and Rayvanny, who reportedly had to pay hefty sums to buy out their contracts.

Baba Levo attributed this gesture to the immense respect Mbosso holds for Diamond and Wasafi leadership.

A Symbolic Fresh Start for Mbosso

Mbosso’s decision to leave Wasafi without animosity marks a key difference in this departure compared to previous ones.

The artist has always emphasized the importance of maintaining good relationships within the industry, and it seems this mindset has ensured his exit remains drama-free.

His departure follows a trend of high-profile exits from Wasafi Records, including Harmonize, Rayvanny, and Rich Mavoko, each with their own distinct story.

Following the announcement, Mbosso further fueled speculation by deleting all posts from his social media, a move interpreted as a symbolic fresh start for his career.

Fans are now left wondering what direction his music will take as an independent artist.

Wasafi’s Future: A Shift in Direction

Meanwhile, Wasafi Records is already looking toward the future. Diamond’s music producer recently revealed that auditions are underway to sign new artists, with a special focus on talent in singing, dancing, and songwriting.

The push to recruit new talent signals that Wasafi intends to fill the void left by Mbosso’s departure and continue its dominance in the Tanzanian music industry.

Mbosso’s Legacy and What’s Next

Mbosso’s journey in the music industry began in 2013 with the band Ya Moto before he joined Wasafi in 2017.

Over the years, he has amassed a loyal following and achieved significant success, including over a million YouTube subscribers and the release of his debut album, “Definition of Love,” and EP, “Khan.” Now, as he embarks on this new independent phase, the world watches eagerly to see where his journey leads.

This new chapter could very well open up new possibilities for Mbosso and offer fresh music to his devoted fanbase.

In a rapidly shifting landscape, the departure of Mbosso from Wasafi is another reminder of the unpredictable nature of artist-label relationships.

As Wasafi prepares to sign new talent, one thing is clear: the Tanzanian music scene is about to enter a new era.

Previous Exits from Wasafi Records

Mbosso joins a list of other artists who have left Wasafi Records over the years, including Harmonize, Rayvanny, and Rich Mavoko.

Harmonize had to pay Tsh500 million (Sh22.4 million) to buy out his contract, while Rayvanny parted with Tsh1.3 billion (Sh68.9 million).

Rich Mavoko’s exit, however, was controversial, and his relationship with Wasafi remains strained.
