WHO IS KOFFI OLOMIDE?
Antoine Christophe Agbepa Mumba, better known as Koffi Olomide, is a Congolese soukous singer, dancer, producer, and the founder of Quartier Latin International.
Born on July 13, 1956, in Kisangani, DRC, he initially aspired to be a footballer but shifted to music after being inspired by traditional Congolese rumba.

Koffi began his music career as a guitarist under the mentorship of Papa Wemba and gained fame in 1977 with his hit “Princesse ya Synza.”
In 1986, he founded Quartier Latin International and produced many successful albums, collaborating with artists like Fally Ipupa and Jipson Butukondolo.

Throughout his career, Koffi faced challenges, including a rumor in 1987 about contracting AIDS, which he addressed through his song “Ngulupa.”
With over 40 years in the industry, Koffi is a pioneer of African music, the first African to perform at Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy, and a recipient of numerous awards, including the KORA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
Koffi remains a key figure in African music and culture, recently appointed as a cultural ambassador by DRC’s president.
He has featured on some banger collaborations with Diamond Platnumz “Waah”, “Leo Leo” with Nandy and “Legende” with Davido.
He will soon perform at Mzuqa Fest, a special Rhumba night hosted by Cape Media, promising fans an unforgettable live experience.
