Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi paid a moving visit to the family of the late content creator Zakaria Kariuki, popularly known as KK Mwenyewe, at their home in Lari, Kiambu County. KK passed away on July 14, 2025, while receiving treatment his death leaving a gaping hole in the hearts of fans who connected deeply with his viral skits.
KK, known for his humorous impersonations of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, had quickly become a household name, offering Kenyans moments of laughter in difficult times.
In a video shared on Instagram, an emotional Eric Omondi is seen arriving at the family home, where he was welcomed warmly by KK’s mother, Dorcas Withira Kariuki.
After a brief prayer, the comedian sat with the family, offering words of comfort and pledging his unwavering support.
“Team sisi kwa sisi, let’s come together for our brother,” Eric urged. “Let us ensure KK gets the dignified farewell he deserves. He was one of us, and his family needs us now more than ever.”
He called on fellow comedians, content creators, and Kenyans at large to unite behind the family, particularly in helping meet funeral costs. He also shared channels through which well-wishers can support KK’s mother.
In a touching moment, Ms. Kariuki spoke through tears: “My son was a hero. He had promised me so much, but God had other plans. I thank everyone who has stood with us. May God bless you.”
Eric concluded his visit by announcing that KK’s burial will take place on Wednesday, July 30, asking Kenyans to honor the memory of a young man whose talent touched millions.
