Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has stirred political waters with a bold and unapologetic declaration: he is the most qualified candidate to become Kenya’s President in 2032, boldly stating that he is “overqualified” to contest any other seat.
Speaking during the Breakfast 47 show on Radio 47, Babu Owino did not mince words as he charted his path to State House, describing his political ambition as both a calling and a responsibility grounded in performance and purpose.
“I’m overqualified to be Kenya’s President in 2032,” he asserted. “I have the passion, the energy, and the political intelligence. My people are urging me to show the world what transformative leadership looks like.”
His announcement comes at a time when political heavyweights within the opposition are jostling for space ahead of the 2027 general election.
But Babu, known for his firebrand style and grassroots connection, is playing the long game—and positioning himself as the face of generational change.
While eyes are fixed on the 2027 presidential contest, Babu revealed that he is also strongly considering a run for Nairobi Governor, vowing to rescue the capital from what he described as “chaos, neglect, and administrative decay” under Governor Johnson Sakaja.
“In 2027, Nairobians know Babu is the incoming Governor. But make no mistake—my eyes are set on 2032. I’ll make a formal presidential announcement by December 2025,” he said.
A Leader Born of the Slums, Powered by the People
Babu Owino’s political rise is rooted in a compelling personal journey—from the streets of Nyalenda slums in Kisumu to the corridors of Parliament. His story is one of resilience, determination, and unrelenting focus on service.
“I understand the pain of poverty. I understand what it means to sleep hungry, to walk barefoot to school. That is why I fight tooth and nail for the people,” he declared.
Recently ranked Kenya’s best-performing MP by Politrack Africa, Babu credits his recognition to his hands-on approach in development. His Embakasi East Constituency boasts over 25,000 bursaries annually, newly constructed roads, and aggressive sourcing of projects—even beyond Kenya’s borders.
“Every MP receives the same NG-CDF. The difference is how you manage it and how far you’re willing to go for your people. I go the extra mile,” he said.
Babu Owino, A Fierce Critique of Sakaja’s Leadership
Babu did not hold back in his criticism of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, painting a grim picture of a city plagued by poor drainage, unmanaged waste, and broken promises.
“There’s a garbage crisis in Nairobi—literal and metaphorical. Everything the Governor touches turns into trash,” Babu fired, accusing Sakaja of failing to prioritize the dignity and health of Nairobians.
He also took issue with Sakaja’s ‘Dishi na County’ school feeding initiative, accusing the county of sidelining children from private schools who, he says, face the same hunger and poverty challenges as their public school counterparts.
“Why exclude hungry children just because they go to private schools? Their parents are struggling too. We must have leadership that is fair, humane, and inclusive.”
The Bigger Picture: Babu’s 2032 Vision
As political realignments intensify, Babu Owino’s message is clear: he is not just a politician—he is a movement.
A youthful, unapologetic, and tested leader who is unafraid to speak truth to power and challenge the status quo.
Whether he clinches the Nairobi governorship in 2027 or heads straight for the presidency in 2032, one thing is certain: Babu Owino is no longer just a contender—he’s a conversation.
