Jackie Matubia: Rejection started at birth and I hated my mother

Award-winning actress Jackie Matubia has captivated audiences with her powerful and deeply personal interview on Dr. Ofweneke’s platform, which is currently trending at Number One on YouTube, sharing her painful experience of abandonment and rejection from her own mother.

Jackie Matubia in a bare it all interview shared her traumatic experience saying the awful experience of abandonment and rejection is still ingrained in her.

“My mother went to Pumwani Hospital, gave birth to me and when she saw me, because I was a very dark child with lots of hair, she thought she had given birth to a monster, I was born into rejection,” she said.

Additionally, her aunt’s comments fueled the matter further, “When my aunt to came to see me, she said that I was an ugly child and my mum abandoned me at Pumwani Hospital for three months.”

The interview, titled “Jackie Matubia: I Never Wanted My 2nd Marriage || Lessons at 30 with Dr. Ofweneke,” has already been viewed by nearly 623,000 fans, and still counting.

In the interview, Matubia revealed that 2023 was one of her toughest years.

She spoke openly about the pain of her breakup, which became public knowledge in her community, and how the constant rejection in her life, from family to partners, has shaped her.

“Every night I used to sleep and tell God, ‘Please take me,'” she admitted. “Out there, people saw me winning, but inside, I was broken.”

She also shared the painful experience of feeling disconnected from her second daughter, Zendaya, due to the trauma of past mistakes, including choosing a partner who rejected their child.

“In the house, I was not resenting my second daughter, Zendaya, because I hated her; I was resenting her because I felt I did not learn from my previous mistake. I ended up choosing for her a father that did not like her. People used to insult me; I wish they knew,”.

Adding, “I fought… I fought for the dad to be in the daughter’s life. But he did not. And you cannot force a man. I tried… And was like I can only do so much.”

The emotional toll of this rejection was immense, but Matubia revealed that, despite these struggles, she has found peace in co-parenting with her first baby daddy, while still navigating a complicated relationship with her second.

Though her journey has been fraught with challenges, Matubia remains focused on her children and her personal growth.
