Kawira Mwangaza: The only complete project President Ruto has done in Mt. Kenya is my impeachment

Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has fired a blistering attack on President William Ruto, dismissing his planned development tour of the county as nothing more than a farce.

Mwangaza, a former ally of Ruto, claims that after more than two years in power, the only project completed by the Kenya Kwanza administration in Meru is her impeachment.

In a candid Facebook post, Mwangaza accused local MPs, county assembly members, and leaders of obsessing over her removal since her election in 2022, instead of focusing on tangible development for the region.

She pointed out that while leaders in other regions lobbied for meaningful projects, Meru’s political elite had only one goal: to orchestrate her ouster.

Mwangaza, unwavering in her defiance, proclaimed, “The only project these leaders have proudly completed is the Governor Kawira Mwangaza Impeachment Project. They should invite President Ruto to launch that because, in two and a half years, that’s all they’ve accomplished!”

She went on to accuse Meru’s political leaders, including MPs, Senators, and MCAs, of bowing to blackmail, pressuring Ruto to endorse her impeachment in exchange for their loyalty.

“They have prostrated themselves before the president, not asking for development, but begging for my removal,” she said, lamenting that this toxic political drama had left Meru with nothing to show but empty promises.

Despite her ouster by the High Court, Mwangaza insisted she still enjoys the support of the majority of Meru residents.

“My work is visible across Meru, and the people stand with me,” she declared. “In 2027, I will lead a political wave that will send all these political brokers home.”

The former governor, now set to launch a new political party, accused President Ruto of being misled by his advisers and falling prey to political machinations from within his own ranks.

“This ouster was sanctioned from above,” Mwangaza’s husband, Murega Baichu, added, claiming the removal was orchestrated by powerful figures in the ruling UDA party, including former Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi and former Governor Kiraitu Murungi.

With plans to launch her political party within the next six months, Mwangaza made it clear that she is not backing down. “We want to free our people from political servitude,” she asserted, vowing to challenge all those who sought to undermine her.

In a final challenge to President Ruto, Mwangaza warned, “I will support you, but it will depend on the work you do in Meru. If you are serious about development, then show us the results. If not, I will make sure that 2027 is the year we reclaim our county.”
