Radio Jambo presenter Cyrus Afune, popularly known as Lion Deh, is mourning the devastating loss of his child. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by fellow Radio Jambo host Massawe Japanni on January 8 and condolences continue to pour in.
“Lion won’t be able to attend the show because he has lost his child,” Japanni announced. “Mbusii might or might not be able to attend as the two are like brothers.
Adding, “I can’t even imagine how hard it is to lose a child. As a mother, I send my deepest condolences.”
According to sources close to the family, the child tragically passed away after falling from a sofa while playing, sustaining a severe brain injury. The incident resulted in a brain bleed that proved fatal.
Lion Deh is a co-host on the popular evening drive show Mbusi na Lion Teke Teke alongside Daniel Mwangi, aka Mbusi.
Their dynamic chemistry has made them household names in Kenya’s reggae scene. Despite numerous job offers from other stations, Lion Deh has remained loyal to Radio Jambo, cementing his legacy in Kenya’s broadcasting and reggae community.

This loss comes just three years after Lion Deh overcame severe health challenges, including hospitalization for anaemia in March 2022.
Beyond his radio career, Lion Deh is a successful entrepreneur and event planner, having co-founded Hakuna Mbrrrr Entertainment, which specializes in reggae-themed events.
Fans and fellow media personalities continue to offer their heartfelt condolences, rallying around Lion Deh and his family during this difficult time.
