MP Salasya assaulted at Nyayo Stadium over political dispute

The electrifying roar of the crowd at Nyayo National Stadium quickly turned into a night of terror for MP Salasya.

What was meant to be a celebration of the Harambee Stars’ clash with Gabon escalated into chaos as Mumias East MP Peter Salasya was forcibly removed by an enraged mob, not security.

A raw, unfiltered video captures the terrifying scene: hands reaching out to grab him, a plastic object hurled in his direction.

Surrounded by angry onlookers, Salasya was pushed through the parking lot, bruised and battered. His social media post revealed the physical toll of the incident, a stark reminder of the violence he endured.

“I didn’t want to commit blood in my hands,” Salasya shared, his words heavy with emotional restraint. “Ni sawa, I had options, but I chose peace.”

He boldly accused the attack of being premeditated, orchestrated by individuals paid to instigate violence. “Everybody on earth shall die, but we shall not be cowards at any given point,” he defiantly declared.

As chants of “Respect Raila” and “Respect the President” filled the air, the motive behind the mob’s fury remained unclear, hinting at deep political tensions.

Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo Mabona spoke out, condemning the violence while calling for unity and tolerance.

“Violence is wrong no matter who the victim is,” Millie wrote, drawing attention to the rising political and ethnic intolerance as Kenya prepares for the 2027 elections. “We must learn tolerance.”

According to eyewitnesses, the MP was thrown out of the stadium for allegedly using abusive language regarding President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Salasya’s violent confrontation serves as a grim reminder of the dangers facing politicians in Kenya today, urging leaders to prioritize their security in this increasingly volatile political climate.
