Nazizi: Pray for me, I miss my son Jazeel and I am not as strong as you guys think

Legendary Kenyan rapper and reggae artist Nazizi has made a heartfelt plea to her fans to continue keeping her in their prayers as she navigates through the painful grief of losing her beloved son.

Nazizi Hirji tragically lost her last born, Jazeel, after he fell from a balcony during a family vacation on December 25, 2023 in Tanzania in a hotel they were staying in.

The devastation of this loss has been deeply felt by the artist, and she recently shared her raw emotions after visiting Tanzania.

As she took a boat ride on the serene waters, she couldn’t help but feel the void left by her son, wishing he could have been there to enjoy the moment with her.

She took to her social media to express her heartache, writing: “Things I wish my baby Jaz was around for, he loved boat rides and everywhere I go, everything I do I wish he was here with me.

Adding, “Past 2 weeks back home at the island and so many emotions, last time we came @jazeeladam was with us coming to the island for the first time. My heart breaks every single second. Pray for me. I am not as strong as you guys think I am.”

In a past interview with Nairobi News, she recalled the heartbreaking phone call she received while meeting her cousin, Tanzanian musician Jaffarai, in Dar es Salaam. She was told to rush to the hospital, but by the time she arrived, it was too late.

“I had gone to meet my cousin, Jaffarai, a well-known musician in Tanzania. I was still with him when I received the call. They told me to rush to the hospital because there had been an accident involving my son.”

He was with his dad, and I couldn’t understand why I was being told there was an accident. We rushed to the hospital, but it was too late by the time we got there.”

Nazizi also shared the details of that fateful day, explaining that she had left her husband to spend time with their son while she visited relatives.

Her father, who had been ill, was also in Tanzania, which was part of the reason for the trip. She firmly denied bloggers’ claims that her husband was on the phone when the accident occurred.

“The hotel room was spacious and he allowed our son to move around freely, just boys being boys, you know.

There’s no way he would have expected such an accident to happen, and he is even more traumatized. What had started as a lovely family road trip ended up in pain and tears.”

The grief and heartache are palpable, and Nazizi’s emotional strength is being tested in ways no parent should ever have to endure.

As she continues to heal, her fans remain a constant source of support, praying for her peace and resilience in this incredibly difficult time.

Nazizi’s Heartfelt Health Journey with Son Jazeel

Nazizi’s journey with her son Jazeel has been filled with immense challenges and deep love. When Jazeel was just a few months old, she discovered he had profound hearing loss.

Determined, Nazizi and her husband fought tirelessly, filled with dedication and compassion, to help their son overcome this hurdle.

After Jazeel was fitted with hearing aids on February 28, 2023, they realized it wasn’t enough to aid his speech development.

So, on August 3, 2023, Nazizi enrolled him in Cochlear Implant surgery, which was a success—a moment of hope and relief for the family.

When the implant was activated on September 5, 2023, Jazeel responded to sound, a miracle that filled their hearts with gratitude.

Nazizi shared, “Patience is something we are learning every day. Patience and faith that all will work out. It’s been about a week since the switch-on, and tomorrow, the speech therapy starts.”

Through every struggle and victory, Nazizi’s love for her little warrior remained unwavering. She wrote, “Love you, my little warrior @jazeeladam, mama Gat you forever.”
