President William Ruto on Saturday evening, September 20, 2025, departed for New York with a bold mission — to ensure Kenya and Africa’s voice thunders on the global stage at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
At this High-Level Week, President Ruto is expected to reaffirm Kenya’s unshakable commitment to multilateralism while demanding long-overdue reforms in the global financial system.
His call is clear: developing nations deserve fair access to development finance, and Africa can no longer be sidelined in shaping the world’s future.
Central to his agenda will be pushing for a more inclusive and reformed United Nations that truly reflects today’s realities — a UN that can confront global peace and security challenges head-on, from Sudan and South Sudan to the DRC, Somalia, and Haiti.

President Ruto will also take the stage at the Committee of Ten (C-10) Summit, standing firm on Africa’s united demand for a permanent voice at the UN Security Council.
He will stress that global peace, security, and prosperity cannot be achieved without Africa at the decision-making table.
Kenya will further assert leadership by hosting a high-level side event on Haiti, drawing from its frontline peacekeeping role to influence the next steps in securing global stability.
As Chair of the African Union’s Climate Change Committee (CAHOSCC), Ruto will convene African leaders to rally a united front ahead of COP30 in Brazil — putting Africa at the heart of the climate justice conversation.

Beyond diplomacy, Ruto will spotlight Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, hosting a High-Level Breakfast on Affordable Housing attended by over 30 Heads of State and Government.
He will also engage in critical bilateral talks with world leaders, development partners, and industry giants to secure investments in agriculture, energy, technology, and infrastructure.
This is more than a trip — it is a defining moment for President Ruto to position Kenya as Africa’s torchbearer in global diplomacy, climate action, and economic transformation.
