The music world is reeling from the heartbreaking loss of Grammy-nominated R&B legend Angie Stone, who tragically passed away at 63 following a devastating car accident in Montgomery, Alabama.
The fatal crash occurred in the early hours of Saturday, March 1, as Stone and her band were traveling from Mobile to Atlanta.
Their van reportedly overturned before being struck by a truck. Among the ten passengers in the vehicle, Stone’s life was tragically cut short.
Born Angela Laverne Brown in Columbia, South Carolina, she first made waves in the late 1970s as part of the pioneering hip-hop trio The Sequence.
But it was her rich, soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics as a solo artist that cemented her status as an R&B powerhouse.
With unforgettable hits like “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” and “Wish I Didn’t Miss You”, she left an indelible mark on the industry.

Beyond her solo success, Stone collaborated with icons like D’Angelo and Alicia Keys, shaping the sound of modern R&B.
Her influence stretched beyond music—she graced the big screen in films like The Hot Chick and The Fighting Temptations.
The three-time Grammy nominee and two-time Soul Train Lady of Soul Award winner released her final album, Love Language, in 2023—an enduring testament to her artistry and passion.
Stone is survived by her two children and two grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of soul, resilience, and timeless music.
Fans and fellow artists flooded social media with heartfelt tributes, mourning the loss of a woman whose voice will echo forever.
