South Africa’s Tyla breaks Beyoncé’s record on Spotify

South African singer Tyla has made history, smashing Beyoncé’s record for the most-streamed album by a Black female artist in 2024!

Tyla’s self-titled debut album amassed a mind-blowing1.565 billion streams on Spotify, surpassing Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter,’ which had 1.564 billion streams.

This achievement also makes Tyla’s album the most streamed by a female African artist on the platform, making Tyla the reigning queen of streaming.

But that’s not all—her album now holds the title of the most-streamed album by a female African artist, EVER. 🔥

The lead single, ‘Water,’ has become a global sensation, racking up nearly a billion streams and winning the inaugural Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys.

Despite all the chart-topping success, Tyla’s album and its deluxe edition were heartbreakingly snubbed by the 67th Grammys.

But don’t worry—she’s still taking home the most awards of any African artist this year. Tyla has claimed 20 prestigious accolades, including a Grammy, 3 MTV EMAs, 2 BET Awards, 1 MTV VMA, 1 Billboard Global Force Award, and more. 💎
